Fel, why not?
Fel, why not?
Since these books by Fel can't be published as a normal book because they per published online why not consider redoing the books just a tad to a more PG13 level and take a shot at the younger market?
It seems to me that there is a huge market out there to address with the end of Harry Potter and the life of Tarrin Kael or a new name for the same guy could maybe fill that spot, or at least part of it. I can see a few changes that would allow Tarrin to start out a little younger when first noticing his potential in magic. More younger and older friends. With Tarrin having several situations come along to where magic was the only thing to get him out of a mess. Lots of odd creatures in the forest both good and bad to help his story remain interesting and fun.
How about it Fel? Could you take a young Tarrin character and alter the story just enough so it is PG 13 and market it? I think with your ability you could easily do something with the mountain of work you have done in your stories to market them in a book or a script form and make real some money off this. Lord knows you certainly deserve it. I hope you really consider it.
Will the next Harry Potter,,,,,,

Re: Fel, why not?
I'd never change the original story, nor Subjugation.
But the next story, which I've decided to call Legacy, won't be quite so vicious and I'm setting it up so it's a stand-alone story without prior knowledge of the Firestaff Series, so who knows.
Yes, that means there's going to be "recaps" littered here and there through the story to explain some of the things that a new reader might not understand, but they'll be told through the eyes of Amara and the stories she heard from her elders when she grew up, so they're going to carry her own flavor.
btw, I still haven't started yet. I've been dealing with RL lately and haven't had much time.

Just another guy from the shallow end of the gene pool.

I probably would not want to change my work either if I had your talent, after thinking about it.
I definitely feel that there is a bunch of money to be made with the kind of talent you have though. A story that appealed to young and old with the young guy as the key hero figure is something that could do just that. And while the selfish side of me would like nothing better than to see everything you write posted here for us "Fel fans", I couldn't blame you a bit for taking a shot at the $$$ with something you could publish in the main stream.
I look forward to your next work. Have a good one,

Either I have missed the connection somewhere!! What is RL? I was expecting The Shattered Rainbow (SR). I was checking the games connection... I did not see anything that fit RL. Right ! Left ! Ok I better go straight ahead and ask. Damn I can be a corny bastard.Fel wrote:I'd never change the original story, nor Subjugation. ..........

Um at the risk of stating the obvious, RL is real life, as in what you do when not on the computer.Mizriath wrote:Either I have missed the connection somewhere!! What is RL? Re: Fel, why not?
Oh Real Life - Darn, my life is real. I spend more time on the computer more (10 hour a day) more than I spend sleeping (7 hours) while 2 hours spend on travelling, 2 hours on eating , 1 hour on TV and 2 more hours - socialising/talking/chatting.Spec8472 wrote:A pretty decent webcomic, actually.Mizriath wrote:What is RL?

Oh it seems others get a better deal than me in real life. The 10 hours of computer is shooting mails and arrows to others, assigning blame for failure in projects and assignments. Politicking on the best way to back stab people. And hopefully caught some unawares, and then at the end of the 10 hours, I check my door to see how many arrows are there. Luckily, they did not use missiles or I will be out on the streets.

The Sun Tzu Art of War propagates knowing your enemy to prepare the best battlegound. I bet he never envisage a battle through words on the computer where you hide behind the screen.

"Get A Life." one may ask.
"But is there a better one out there" came the reply.
"You have a choice" says the one.
"I don't like my choice. But I am happy with the 14 hours out of 24.

I forgot to mention about the other part of real life. To check whether Fel has something new for me to read.

Ha! I just looked up the Real Life Comics webcomic, and what do I find:
22nd August 2008
Greg: Crap, and that reminds me that I haven't got any progress on the book today, either. Ack!
ROFL!
Maybe Greg is Fel in disguise...

Re: Fel, why not?
IF you wanted to do a work that could be published - you post it to mailinglists/newgroups.
Because it can be retracted from news groups it is considered part of the editing process I believe.
