Hello and an Idea

Heya,

I've been a fan of Fel's work for a pretty long while now, and I finally have something to say, so here I go...

After reading the books multiple times in digital format, I'm starting to want the books in published format more and more all the time.

Is there any chance that Fel would agree to a small print run of like 50 books from a print on demand publisher, just to accomodate those of us who really love his work and would like to own a printed copy?

From what I've gathered getting a publisher to buy the rights to the books is unlikely to happen because of 'first rights (?)', but there's nothing stopping him from publishing the books himself. It'd be our chance to own a copy of the books and give something back to him for the tremendous effort that has gone into writing the books.

look at http://www.lulu.com for an example of a place that will do small scale print jobs, but will produce professional quality books.

Disclaimer: If there is any chance that the books might see the print through a quality publisher which Fel is more then deserving of, please disregard my post and ignore me as I push people aside to grab a few copies.

Hey Tsaddiq, welcome!

This is something that's been raised many many times before - Fel has stated repeatedly that he has no intention to publish the Sennadar [s]or Subjugation[/s] series.
Edit: See here. and here.

A few people did, a while ago, put versions of the books up for sale on Lulu and other places - Fel got them taken down.

If you'd like to contact Fel directly to get permission to print a copy of the books for yourself (i.e local printing company) then go for it. I know at least one other person has done so, and received permission.

(Note: the key words are for yourself)

Edit: Added some links.

Also - regarding professional publishing (i.e through a publisher such as Baen or someone) - it's come up a few times in that by distributing online - Fel has already used the "First Rights" to these stories, which basically means no large publishing house will pick them up.

To be picked up by a publishing house, Fel would have to write a story without distributing it online initially - after it has been published, then it'd be up to the contract with Fel and the Publishing House as to if/when it could be placed online.

Scuttle was the one who got permission from fel to print his own copys at Lulu. We're still not sure who did the unaurthorized copys

But Like Spec8472 said if you want to get "Your" own copys printed (On like Lulu.com )you need to Contact Fel for Permission to do so.

As he (Fel) has given his permission before I don't think you would have a problem but you need to ask him.
There were several Print ready copys of the stories posted in PDF format here in the General forum (i think they are still around here some where in a thread) if you'd like to look at them or you could make your own.
Once you have permission from fel

Spec8472 is also Right about The Fisrt publishing rights But if Fel writes another story that is Picked up by a publisher then it's posiable they might also one day wish to publish his others posted here.
