Sennadar.com
Sennadar.com
Due to financial issues, I'm not going to be able to renew my registration on sennadar.com until September.
So the main site (which I never really use anymore) will probably go down in about a week, once my registration ends.
I'm not sure if I want to renew as it is. I can't get hold of Apex, who hosts sennadar.com, and I can't get into the shell holding the html.
I'll think about it...I might just see if someone here wants to take over the hosting.
I just wanted to warn everyone before it happens.

You are listed as the domain contact for sennadar.com. You could get a hosting package somewhere else and simply transfer your domain registration. This can be done at any time.
I've read about your inability to contact your hosting provider. Don't they have a phone number or web site? If not, perhaps they were purchased by another company. A whois lookup for sennadar.com gives 198.145.255.19 as the web site ip address. A whois on that gives the following info and maybe you will find a contact there.

Fel, if you want I'll re-register it in your name, and at the same time redirect the settings to point to sennadar.plebian.net.Fel wrote:Due to financial issues, I'm not going to be able to renew my registration on sennadar.com until September.

If it goes unregistered, it'll get snapped up by domain-spammers (very likely).
Re: Sennadar.com
It's hosted by a friend of Fel's at the moment. Not specificly a company.Were_Fan wrote: I've read about your inability to contact your hosting provider. Don't they have a phone number or web site? If not, perhaps they were purchased by another company.
Re: Sennadar.com
Btw- Fel. If you want me to renew it, just say, or drop me an email.
If you want, I can call you to discuss if you'd like. Let me know a good time (and what timezone you're in).

Re: Sennadar.com
ok then, thanks to spec's help, we're moving the registration to a shell he runs, so I can FINALLY get in touch with the guy hosting the shell for the main site....so WE CAN MAKE CHANGES TO IT!
Whee.
I won't know what to do with myself.

/me goes back to work...
Just for everyone's information:
Sennadar.com should start showing content from sennadar.plebian.net in the next 24-48hrs or so.
I'll get around to setting up something better soon (this weekend, perhaps).

Re: Sennadar.com
ok, as part of the changover - I'm planning to give the site a bit of a makeover.
If someone wants to volunteer to clean up the HTML (online) versions of the books, please give me a shout.
Basicly, what is needed, is:
* Clean HTML - no remnants from MS Word conversions, nothing apart from bold, italics, underline and other structural formatting.
* Single reference to a CSS style (no in-built styles).
I'm setting up a demo copy of the proposed site now, and as soon as the DNS information has been propogated, everyone can take a look.
For reference, I'm using Wordpress as the base, with K2 as the style.
For users, It's clean, clear, and readable.
For admins, it's pretty easy to update and maintain.
I could go for a fully-fledged CMS (like, say Joomla) but I think that's probably overkill at the moment.

Re: Sennadar.com
Spec & Fel,
Thank you both. I have one sugesstion for the layout of the pages where the chapters are listed.
Right now they are a table that runs with two columns and the numbers go sequentialy down the first column onto the second so that they are balanced.
I use a capture program called iSiloX so that I can take the books with me on my PDA to read using iSilo ( http://www.isilo.com & http://www.isilox.com ). What happens with the layout is that say in Book 1 (ToS) my fist page is Chapter 1 then my second page is Chapter 11, then my third is chapter 2 and fourth is chapter 12 and so on and so on. IF the layout could be changed so that in the row 1 Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 show up. Then row 2 would be Chapter 3 & Chapter 4. This would keep the table layout exactly the same and all that would change is the order of the listings. I think this would also make it easier to maintain any books in progress as that chapter would be added at the end possibly in a new row. Thus there would never be a need to go back and "re-balance" the columns.
If you don't like the idea thats fine too. I've learned to live with it.
Thanks,
J-Man5

I think it's safe to say that this will be changed.J-Man5 wrote:Right now they are a table that runs with two columns and the numbers go sequentialy down the first column onto the second so that they are balanced.
How does iSilo handle a page like this
Re: Sennadar.com
Spec,
The listing of the chapters at the bottom of that page works perfectly. It's just all the other links get sucked up too with the isilo file. The nice thing about the way the old sennadar.com pages worked was they were very quick to navigate from book to book or chapter to chapter and nothing else was included. On this page all links 1 level below this page are included in my isilo file. So Recent changes, Timeline, Sennadar Book Management, etc. are all there.
But reading from one chapter to the next does work perfectly.
