Changes & Updates to Forums (Finished)

[s]I'm making some minor changes to the board, from the post date of this message for about an hour or so.

It shouldn't (theoreticly) break anything - but just incase, you'll know why

I'll post again when I've finished fiddling.[/s]

The changes are very nice so far. The new {spoiler} tag, the beginning of title of last updated thread in the forum in Last Post column, the links in the header and footer...

Well, about the header. I know that it is not finished yet, but the last link Demons Bane Ch 3 doesn't work (yet?) and points to http://sennadar.plebian.net/forum/viewto (404 Not Found). Additionally there are 6 vertical separating lines after the last link...

I hope that after all the changes you would write what they are: the names of the phpBB modules and (if needed) the description of changes you made.

If you want to see all recent posts, on all forums use

There's also two parameters you can use. <b>f</b>, for the Forum ID you want to monitor and <b>c</b> for the number of posts you want to see.

Example, Last 20 Posts in the General Discussion forum http://sennadar.plebian.net/forum/rss.php?f=2&c=20

Additional information. If you find a post that's offensive/breaking the rules, etc. Click on the near the top of the post to report it to a moderator.

I see that is being corrected.

On a side note: I'm going to dump that rEd Bar mod I installed - it breaks much too easily, and just doesn't do the job.

If someone with PHP and PHPbb experience wants to fix it (as in, the mod) - it needs the following:
- HTML Encode values from the database when displaying on the config page,
- Have a separate link config page on the ACP
- Have a decent field length input for the config page (At least 255 chars)
- Allow n URLs to be added, without excessive difficulty or ugliness on the end-result (eg: extra pipes) (probably best to create a separate table, rather than clogging the config table.)
- Allow allocating URLs to the top, bottom, or both headers.
- Allow re-ordering of URLs.

Take a look at QBar/QMenu at http://www.phpbbhacks.com (View Demo, of sorts). Perhaps this will be what you need.

I'm thinking about writing the navigation bar mod to your requirements, but you will have probably to wait a longer while for it...

P.S. do those "Last edited by Spec8472 on 16 Oct 2005 12:58; edited 3 times in total" messages are inserted automatically?

Having a custom written mod would be good though

And yeah, the "Last Edit by" stuff is automatic, but it doesn't always show up (not sure the rules around when it will show).

From what I tested (in "Test" forum) "Last Edit By" first start to appear when somebody quotes your post (i.e. uses "Quote" to reply, and not "Post Reply" button). Perhaps it is handled by phpBB configuration.
