Hope it's not serious, and that you get your connection back soon. I know how boring it get's without it...

Ya, but you'll manage one way or another... When it happened to me, i had to use the schools computors to download reading-material, and then take it home on a floppy-disk... Heh, when the need arises, you'll figure something out, or better yet, it get's fixed before that!
One can always hope...

And the verdict is. It got fixed before that. LOL I'm back up, no change in IP, so it's still the same link to get to the stories.

set up a dyndns.org account (free) to point to your ip, will make things easier for others if your ip changes because you can run a client which auto updates the host to point at your new ip.

I'll check it out, but what I need to do is find out if it can point to a different port rather than the normal one.
---------------
Damn, it won't allow me to point to a non-standard port.
I stand corrected.

Thanks, but no thanks. I really hate pop-ups.

Mike, if you hate pop-ups, then I really recommend the Google Bar. Check out
http://toolbar.google.com I haven't had more than twenty unwanted pop-ups since I got it. I absolutely love it, best pop-up stopper I've seen yet.

Gee, thanks. It only blocks unwanted pop-ups? Is there a way to check what is blocked anyway? (Just to make sure.)

Why not try MyIE2 which is a browser "wrapper" for IE. It has many featues for example:
* Has content filer - you can block certain pictures, flash:es or anything else that loads on a page - and you can use wildcards
* URL filter - easily blocks popups, unders and other strange URL ad-techniques
If you dont want these features on one klick with the mouse turns it off, another on.
Moreover MyIE2 has tabs which means that you can have lots of sessions open without cluttering your taskbar.
Mouse gestures makes it easy to navigate (and even close tabs - especially useful with the feature below)
Configure you middel mouse button to open links in new tab (no more right click and 'open in new window')
There are many more features and ive started to use this program on every computer that i have (at home and at work).
It also has a search "interface" that makes google bar not needed for me.
Another thing.. its free. And you dont need to install any more sw to make your surfing experience more satisfying. (I dont see any yahoo ads when i surf their forums, dont see any ads at ezboards ... )

Lochar could have put up a dyndns without a popup he just wants to be able to hide the fact its on a non standard port *shrug*
Or you could use a browser which doesn't suck

aimed at Mike not Gustav.
Mozilla FireBird is so the way to go has tabbing, popup blocking, extentions/mods available.
MyIE2 may have some of the nice features but I have this thing against IE and its derivatives (perhaps unfairly but still)
After doing a bit of reading I'd say if you are going to use MyIE2 use the gecko rendering engine with it.

Fine fine, it's fixed. No more cloak. LOL

Better, and it wasn't really a cloak. You could still see where you were directed, down to the port, in the statusbar before...
And thanks for the help guys, i'll see what i pick in the end.

Yep, you can select on a site-by-site basis what you want blocked.
I use the google toolbar on all of my PCs (3x Windows 2000/XP/2003 running desktops/servers at home, 3x Windows 2000 desktops at work), and almost all of my colleagues who have 'net access do the same thing.
It's great being able to search google at the drop of a hat.
Also, there's a new Google Deskbar... very neat too. Search google without opening a browser (well, technically it's a minibrowser).
I want google on my Mobile(Cell) Phone... oh, wait, I can (via WAP)... yay!
