A video about this showed up in my Facebook feed. Sounds to me a lot like the beginnings of wireless power

I'm dubious how useful it will be. The power transmission is very distance dependent

supply 2 watts of power to a smartphone 20 inches away. That charging rate improves as you get closer: between 15 inches and 10 inches, the MotherBox supplies 4W of power, between eight inches away to five inches gets you 8W, and connected devices within five inches charge at 10W

If you plan on having your phone less than 50cm (20") away from a power point (the Motherbox), then what's the point in using Motherbox over a Qi/PMA charger or cable?

Sure the technology using phased arrays is interesting, but it's not new (http://newatlas.com/cota-ossia-wireless ... ray/29217/) and this implementation isn't great in terms of range.

I'd watched a video on new Engineering field of studies that had just been created (discovered?). It had something to do with 3D printing small structures. It would be most useful in making light weight but strong materials. This technology also had the unexpected potential to charge off of ambient radiowaves, if it could be researched properly. I'm pretty sure it was the DNEWS channel on youtube, not sure, but it seems like this Feldia (Fel Idea) is closer to becoming a reality than you would think. Or should it be Jadea (Jason idea)?

Hold On.....didn't Tesla invent this decades ago....but using "real" current? Just another thought from the feeble mind.

Tried. He planned for it but couldn't make it a reality.
