what does it mean to you

Post by tyx2 »

intresting............
i have been looking around this site and i have seen a few thing that make me Think
i understand that the images that some authers try to express are dark, scary. i can also understand some ppl like romance some scifi other fantasy i can also understand some ppl will not read a certain type (no intrest, does not sound like it will be good  - what ever) but i am really stumpped scifi and fantasy readers are normaly of a differant breed, but then i have read in posts about readers challanging authors, expressing there desire for auther not to cross a certain line.
i expect a good auther to challang the way i think ,
to make me understand new or differant concept
to see the lines we drew are note really lines more markers to show our growth

good example:

firestaff
when tarrin destroyes torrin i could see his point i could understand the need and to tell the truth as i read it, it was the only solution i could see at the time
- but look at it from the out side if the american press released the news that 1000 innocents (wifes & kids) where destroyed in what ever new bomb is around to do the job i now i would not be as understanding, there could be no need so great
- or could there ???
umm...
Subjegation
- imagine i world like that, where female where the dominat sex where all those things blokes do to females where backward (not the perfect world where there is no war except once a month for about a week, not the world where the white house is pink, not even the world where hunger in a thing of the past) Backward in the sense that they do it to men
-  could i live with that ??
NO BLOODY WAY
can i except the idea yea i can and i can find it intresting and maybe a little eye opening
- the things the surprised me where not the big things but the small things that i see myself doing
---  like getting the door
-        i just do it i never even consided what a female would feel about my actions its just the things blokes do.
i think the only good rule for author to lissen to is
1, if someone gives you a line in the sand that you must not cross jump to the other side fump back do a little dance stick you touge out and look for another line to cross
2, if someone challages you to wright a story that does not "Go to far" as them to tell you how long is a piece of string

srry bout the spelling but its a challange

Tarrin nearly ended his own life after what he did at that town.  The only thing that most likely held him back was his quest to his Goddess.  Then again, he was helped with that by the divine intervention afterwards.  The point about the bomb is a good one.  What do you think the inventors of the A-bomb thought when they handed over the ability to kill people and it was dropped on the Japanese civilians.  These were people that did nothing wrong, except be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

One plane can carry this package around the world, drop it, and bruise all the planets and satelites listening in.  Now comes Tarrin, who doesn't just bruise them, he's got the ability to blow them up if need be.

Tarrin's test was to see if he could go against all he believed in to fufill his mission.  He was able to, but it came at almost too high of a cost for him.  To Tarrin, the means was not justified by the end, but he did as he had to.

And that is all I'm going to comment on this one.

I agree in a way, I was somewhat perturbed/annoyed at MISER for putting the challenge to Fel, considering he writes for his own pleasure, puts great books up for free, etc. It was sad to see someone basically say:

"You're not allowed to help me possibly view things from more than a narrow/one sided perspective, you're not allowed to distub me in anyway, but not doing any of those things could you please keep writing these great books that I love so much and gain so much enjoyment from? kthxbye!"

Okay so perhaps that was a bit harsh towards MISER but its the way I felt and with tyx2 adding his voice I thought I might as well, that and I got back from work not a long time ago and I'm tired.

Hope I didn't stretch this "Long live the board and the exchange of free ideas, in courtesy, respect, and our FELlowship!" too far.

Hi

I think this is a generational thing.

I think I am one of the oldest people actively reading and participating in this series and its discussions.

I am what my life and experiences have made me.

I do not apologize for what I said or saying anything. I stand by it and  I KNOW what I meant. I am not sure you do and do feel taken out of context.

Perhaps I should say this, this way in todays lingo.

Fel, I dont think your broken, no need to fix your story.

Grey, that amounts to much the same thing as I said in my challenge. Your being annoyed and perturbed is ok with me, I have been that way many times here. It's cool, I am not mad, or disturbed, or feeling like you were rude or harsh etc... Have your say.

But understand mine a little. Your view of the challenge is out of alignment with my intention. But you are right on track with how much I like these books and works by Fel. And I have often provided him public praise and warm fuzzy's for providing them. It's the only payment I can provide him. I try not to be banal, or boring, or a brute in my comments around here. But in the coin of the realm heres an offering....

Fel I challenge you to keep writing and to stretch your imagination and our entertainment to the farthest bounds you can reach. I thank you for the free entertainment which costs me nothing more than my time and the electricity needed to light my computer screen and an electric bulb. I am happy with the responsibility you have displayed in your creations, and hope you continue to the standard you have set. I look forward to each and every offering you provide to your fan base for that entertainment, for the creativity, and originality, for the friends on paper, and community you have made. You are responsible for all of this and I thank you, very much!

I thank you again for the permission to play in your world. The permission to write my own series of short storys for my own enjoyment and pleasure, set in sennadar. I have a number of them now and I know I have not shared any yet. I am still learning and experiencing what this is all about. The fun and the frustration. My respect for your continuity and ability keeps growing. I have made mistakes tso significant that had I shared something publicly would have been truly embarassing. But it was fun to go back and fix. And I will share with you sometime when I have an offering that wont eat into your school time etc...

Grey, I did NOT basically say Fel was not allowed to do something to or for me etc... you did. Go back and read what I said and then if you want to question it or me send me a private message and I will reply and provide explanation to any question you may raise if you care to.
the interpretation is mine and the comment is mine.

I do NOT want to be the cause or focus of a flame war around here folks. I am not angry or disapointed, I am not feeling dumped on or overly abused by the misunderstood in a crule world that hates me. I am OK. I hope you all are. But I have reached a point where I wish this topic would die a PEACEFUL death!

Miser
IF ITS IN ALL CAPS "DEAL WITH IT!"
Have a good day or night or something.
Purrs and Growlls to you all !!!!!
