THe scion are some of the coolest and useful magics the dragons have.
Say they one day make seven for commercial use, linking a specially built scion terminal, to the 5 largest/busiest airpoRts in the world, as well as, the suez and panama canals, they could alot of profit.

Do we know their range? How deep under ground or under water can it reach? CAn it extend into space? CAn it reach the moon, the la grange point or earth orbit? CAn magic even work in space? Is magic only in out atmosphere? Say the tail spike used is linked to an earth dragon, would that be enough to give the portal magic.

How high can the air dragons reach? COuld they help get stuff into orbit?

While the making of them are extraordinarily draining, say if earth dragons join the circles involved, could that lessen the impact. also, the many clear tail spike recently produced could help in the production.

iMAGINE IT, Dragons will be responsible for revitalizing the space program and allowing easier access to space for the world.

Clever idea, but it won't work.

Scions are magical, and magic doesn't operate in a place where there is no life. This means that magic is limited to the biosphere...the DRACONIC biosphere, within the boundaries of Gaia. Since the planet itself is alive, that means that magic works anywhere on or in Earth to the upper edges of the atmosphere. There has to be magic on the other end of the scion's gateway for it to function.

A scion couldn't open a gateway to the moon, nor could sky dragons use magic to shoot down satellites unless they created a magical effect that continued to have a physical effect after the magic is expended (magical fire setting "normal" fire to flammable objects is an example of this). Even if magic COULD function in space, the distance from the Earth to the moon is far too great for a scion's magic to reach that far anyway. They do have limits.

WHat if an earth dragon went with the scion, to provide the magic in earth orbit perhaps?
Moon to earth may be impossible, but if they can link the island to Washington, surely they can reach orbit. Magic can only work where life is present/possible, so what about a space station habitable section. Even if spare parts and supplies are the only thing that can be sent, it would greatly aid space programs.
WHile dragons can't reach orbit, could they or their magic help ships get higher into the atmosphere, before having to use their own engines to get them the rest of the way into obit?

Can magic produce an engine/thrust with a far greater thrust that tech can, so to allow orbit to be easier to achieve? THe dragons en mass could drag it into the upper reaches of the atmosphere, or use magic flame/lightning to propel the spaceship up.

Actually, they probably could. The magic would die as soon as they left the upper edges of the atmosphere, but the magical engine could probably invest enough thrust into it to get the vehicle into orbit. Magic is subject to physics, and thus a rocket with "magic engines" would keep its momentum and velocity after the magic was removed from it.

I wonder if magic can create a flake with no heat, yet lots of thrust, so the space who does not need to worry about heat tolerances. Water can be magicly created, I wonder if a water engine would provide the right thrust.
