Yeah, so there I am on Friday, just minding my own business, then BOOM.

90 mph winds slam into my hill out of nowhere. Literally. Power flickers, then goes out.

Now, here it is some five days later, and my power just came back on not 20 minutes ago.

Now, usually I'm not one to complain, but in these five days, the daytime temperatures averaged about 95F (around 35C). It got as high as 102 (39ish) on Saturday.

102 degrees, no air conditioning, in a house not built for natural air flow.

Yeah...not fun.

Anyway, give me a few days to get everything put back to normal, and I'll try to get a chapter posted.

See thats why you have Generators.. heh I remember a few years ago when like 3 different hurricanes came through the area I live in FL, and the joke going around was 10,000 for a household Generator sounds reasonable...

Man I can sympathize with you, because that sort of heat would probably have killed me!

The first three days after Christmas in 1996 I went through the opposite - we had well over four feet of snow in Brentwood Bay, just north of Victoria. I was wharfinger on a dock there and we were constantly shoveling the snow that piled up on the docks and the boats, but it was better than being inside, because the power went out and I had electric heat.
I still have a 'T' shirt that reads 'I survived the blizzard of 96' and people chuckle about it because we normally get about 2 inches of snow in our storms, then it melts away.

man i can't stand heat like that, I'm a coasty and anything over 65F Is unbearable.

if you live on a hill and have constant wind you can probably put in a wind generator. and have pretty study electricity.

Oy vey, I know when I was in Egypt with that kind of temperature, the only way I survived (ok, that's a slight exaggeration) is by freezing a 1.5/2L bottle of water every evening, and then carrying it around with me during the day.

Now I know why Fel is so quiet recently....... darn winds. The weather has been freaky. It has been hot (34 C) where I am in SIN then it rains during the night. TRopical weather and rain.

Since it will run a TV, Lights and a fridge - I thought it might run a small air conditioner.
(I know it sounds similar to closing the barn door after the horse has gone to the races, but . . . )

I'll just use my parents RV generator if I know that power is going to be out a long time.
In fact I did that after a few tornados came through my area of Texas a while ago.
