Detour to Otherwhen (Prologue to Chapter 4)

Finally posting this where it should be. In case you haven't seen anything of this story before this is old style science fiction concerning an instance of time travel. I've tried to keep the science relatively true to fact, but there is one major step outside of fact and two minor sidesteps that you may pick up on.

I dunno, ask me again in a few weeks - lol

Count on having a couple of weeks rest between chapters of each of the two stories I'm posting - that gives me time to work on other stories when I'm not doing an 'outside' job or feeling poorly. But then I might get ill or I might decided to go for another week long cruise - if the weather stays fine and the urge hits either 'The Captain' or me - so there may be breaks in my posting schedule.
