with every one getting access to consortium tech, karrine will need to step it up.
Instead of trying to create new tech, they should attempt to replicate tech from as much sci fi and fantasy as they can. that way they can just be really cool.
also if they have the karrine database, they know which experiments and tech are unfinished so good points to start off at.

The karrine database should spark a lot of idées. there is a lot of old tech that they can polish of, just look at the rail gun. It doesn't have to be earth shattering every small thing helps out =).
Cybi should also stare gathering(steal) technology from races, they all view the same problem in a different way and that should help the karrines think of new things.
And as SYED said they should start checking Sci-fi and fantasy to get idées that are out side of the box.

who says they aren't already doing that in round about way , by hosting the academy on Terra? lots of room cross pollination over there.
