Oy my aching fingers. Now I know how must Fel feel sometimes. :P
For your idle entertainment, chapter 1 of my NaNoWriMo project...

Twenty Three Sixty One

Victor always wanted to live forever. Then the lights went out. When the backups kicked in, everything outside of New Folkestone wasn't there any more. All they could pick up was some scrambled radio bouncing off of Mars. Earth seemed to still be there, but not the Earth he once visited.

The colony has no choice. They can’t survive by themselves.

Now Victor is definitely going to live forever. In a way. He is the first nova, the first sapient non human, that Earth will know. He is to be part of the advance party to get Earth ready during the two years it will take for the 20 billion ton grinding colony to arrive in Cis-Lunar space. He is hoping the history books are exaggerating about how bad things are in this centaury century.

He will change history. He will make history. He must. Or ten million people will die.

I think you mean 'century' up there, and in the chapter itself. And some its/it's issues.

Good, interesting start - more please!
