Communications systems and the Alliance task force

Planet to planet, it seems like everyone has real-time com systems, so the High Staff and the Grand Duke can talk to each other with no delays. But not everyone has real-time coms for ships, or they wouldn't have been talking about taking 600 years for a message from Alliance ships parked at Exile reaching Alliance space. So real-time coms, for most systems, are bulky and enough of power hogs that they require planet based facilities, ships just can't mount them, unless dealing with Karinne derived tech bases.

At least that's the impression I have at the moment.

Does cause a problem with some scenarios, where it appears that ships are changing their actions based on events that happened after they entered hyperspace, where they wouldn't have any way of knowing things changed without receiving real-time transmissions from home.
As soon as they received that warning, the little fleet jumped out without so much as an acknowledging transmission. It was a highly puzzling development, nothing that anyone expected, but Jason had a feeling that the attack on Dahnai and the Siann had spooked the other nations, seriously spooked them.
The attack on Dracora took place while the Alliance squadron was in hyperspace, they would have no way of knowing that anything had occurred, and its already been stated that they don't have real-time ship coms, so nations, such as the Alliance, being spooked by the attack would have nothing to do with the actions of the Alliance squadron. And Jason is smart enough to have kept the causality/communications situation in mind, which makes it a very strange mental thinking on his part.

Have I overlooked something?

Nope. Jason tends to think in terms of "everyone can do what we do" when it comes to certain things, but this is a case of him incorrectly drawing a conclusion.

That fleet had orders to do exactly what it did before it left Alliance space. Therefore, it needed no communication.

So the alliance is working with the Consortium to draw attention away as they blast the palace...

That is about the only thing I can think of that makes sense if they had orders to withdraw as soon as they dropped out of Hyperspace...
