Future reforms within the Faey Imperium

The Faey House fleets are a disaster waiting to happen. With undisciplined crews and unsuitable command staff it seems unlikely that they will function effectively in the coming war against the well organized, experienced Consortium fleet.
A prolonged war will force the Imperium to restructure its navy and probably have a cascading effect of reforms throughout society towards a meritocracy. It will also be interesting to see how they all manage scaling up their manufacturing and support industries. Huge numbers of warships, picket ships, planetary defenses, improved transport systems to cope with the greater scale and reduction of independent transport ships. The Imperium could look very different in ten years time.

Good points. kinda like the changes in wrought in the US due to their entry in WW2.For that matter, I guess the British armed forces received a major shake down as well.

it will have the effect of driving Tech advancment to new levels ...like most wars do
the Kimdori will have a lot of imput in to shaping the outcomes of this one though
Humm a Kinder gentler Faey ? ....i don't quite see that happening in fact i would/could be a BAD thing if it happened
it would shift the status quo a lot maybe in the wrong ways.

Not kinder of gentler just changed by necessity. With the House ship captains and commanders in particular it is doubtful that they will follow orders with the same efficiency as the Imperial commanders. Nor will the House ship crews be as responsive. As soon as they face Consortium ships there will have to be changes In order to not continue to lose ships due to incompetency.

These are all points that Dahnai and the Imperium will in fact be addressing.
The Imperium is almost always in a state of "wariness" since it's so self-destructive, where the Empress has to defend against the houses, the houses have to defend against each other, and all of them have to defend against outside threats. With a solid threat in the Consortium and the system now running entirely through stargates, supply and logistical issues are going to rear their ugly heads as both the Imperium and the Collective (which is named because it's a collective of 24 individual clans unified under a Brood Monarch whose bloodline was chosen because they have no blood ties to ANY of the other clans, I don't think I ever explained that) have to reset to a new system, it's going to require changes.
As far as the meritocracy idea filtering through the houses, well, that's not gonna happen because it's already more or less that way. Yes, the house militaries are dominated by nobles, but unlike other aspects of the operation of a noble house, the nobles in the military have to have at least some training and ability to not get their asses kicked when they go to war with other houses. A house noble in the military is there because she has military talent, but also to a lesser degree because of connections. A house military officer is better at fighting than other nobles in her house, because it's their chosen career, and they do try to be the best at it they can be.
Yes, there are idiots in house militaries who just have the right mother, but not as many as you'd think. The house officers are actually rather competent when taken as a whole.
But, they're still nowhere near as good as the Imperial military. That is 90% merit and 10% politics until you reach flag rank (general/admiral), then it's 50-50. Since nobles are not allowed to serve in the Imperial military (and thus the military is usually the only option for promising Faey who have talent but no connections), they're free to promote and train based purely on ability and talents, not lineage. That's one reason why Merrane has kept power even though they're no longer militarily stronger than the Highborns, because their command staff and field officers are just flat-out better than the house forces they have to fight.

The thing is a lot of worlds will join the imperium, either for safety or they were absorbed due to them being hurt by the consortium. But with house karrine being a major player, the worlds will join under their own system instead of being ruled by faey nobles. FOr example the green people led by greyhawk, he is their monarch but his duties involve dealing with foreign bodies, make him a recognised noble incharge of his worlds while they run basiclly by them selves, similar to how jason has the UN run earth. Due to karrine influence, they may chose him as their figure head when other races join. They alien races ould get their own version of noble houses and armies, similar to the makati. After the war, the imperium will be the top dog around, capable of taking all the damaged and weakened worlds, as the consortium would not allow threat to them. The faey will interact with aliens, and see earth and think of a world were nobles dont limit the option.

I'm not as familiar as I'd like to be with how the Makati and Kizzik fit into the Faey governmental system, so I can't use them as examples. Thus making the following pure speculation.
Terra fits into the Faey system in a half standard, half non-standard fashion. The Grand Duke Karinne is ultimately responsible for the governance of Terra, and the fulfillment of Terra's obligations to the Empireum, which falls into the standard pattern. The non-standard pattern is the internal governance of Terra, where rather than the standard layered hierarchy of Faey nobles, an approximation of Terra's pre-contact system of governance, modified to preclude internal warfare and disruption, is implemented; Terra governs itself, provided all obligations to the Empireum and House Karinne are met.
House Karinne has arranged to govern the Coalition border systems, and again has implememnted a non-Faey structure, allowing the Coalition structure to continue unchanged, so long as the obligations to the Empireum are met. Again, Grand Duke Karinne is ultimately responsible for seeing that the obligations are met.
So the precedent has been set for alternate internal structures, so long as there is an interface, an intermediate level, which interacts with the Faey Empireum with an individual having ultimate responsibility for the fulfillment of obligations; so long as that individual delivers the goods, the internal matters are just that, internal.
The more autocratic the society, the easier to fit into the Faey system, for the patterns of power will more closely match. So long as there is a chief executive who can make binding commitments, commitments which will be honored, how that individual is selected is not as important as their ability to speak for their commonality. Their authority must match the responsibilities which come from being the interface with the Faey. To the extent that there are internal constraints upon their authority, the internal structure must be rapidly reactive, able to make decisions on short notice, with minimal turnaround time so as to provide a semblance of executive authority if such authority is actually lacking. The Faey work under a structure where agreements between individuals bind houses, not agreements between committees, someone must needs be the executive who can speak and by speaking bind their people to agreements.

SO these new places basicly have an executive leader most likly hereditary and in exchange part of a powerful and highly advanced empire, tha is gonna be the top dog around, also due to stagate and indictors they are not limited by boarders, find a free world any where claimit and expandfrom there, the empire could end up huge with pieces all over the galaxcy, surrounded by alien empires.
with indictors, with there be attemps to make any real space ftl engines, so to speedup travel.
