For giggles I've got a dark skinned barby named Azakar. *grin*
And I can't tell you anymore, NDA. *smile*

Shadowhawk, it was tempting to make one.It really was.
Were, sorry, if you didn't sign up a few months ago, I don't think it's possible. If I get a buddy key, you're first on my list to get it though, OK?

Just posted...
A message from John Smedley:
As of now, the NDA for the EverQuest II Beta is officially lifted. We encourage our beta testers to share the experiences theyve had in beta with the rest of the EverQuest II community. Many more people who enrolled in the EverQuest II beta program can expect beta keys in their inboxes in the very near future. In addition, in the past few weeks weve let the Legends and Lords of EverQuest players in, and we would like to thank them for their support. We now have four Beta servers up and running including one French and one German server and weve let in over 30,000 players since July. In the near future that number will grow far past that. Keep an eye on your inbox!
Ask away and I'll answer as best as I can if you want to know about eq2.

Why don't you just ramble, and we ask questions when something comes up?

Because I really don't feel like rambling?

...But i don't feel like asking 200 questions...
Anyway, how is it? Personal and professional opinions, please.

NDA was lifted most likely to counter WoW. We're still missing skills, spells and the like, but it's fun. I'm not in the high end of the game, but pre-20 seems interesting enough. There's enough quests to do that you don't have to fight very much before about 12 if you want to go that way.
What spells there are currently, are given to you as you level up. You get the lowest version of that spell apprentice 1. apprentice 2 is sold by merchants, and apprentice 3 is crafted by players. adept 1 is dropped, adept 2 is supposedly quested but we haven't seen it, and adept 3 is crafted by players using rare components. Haven't seen Master versions yet.
There are master versions of spell/skills that relate directly to a type of mob. Goblin mastery, gnoll mastery, elemental mastery, skeleton mastery and the like.
Crafting is what I"m doing mainly. It's a decent system, but you can kill yourself playing it. You get to play against the crafting device, and events comes up that you have to react to. Loss of concentration, mislabeled materials, etc. The reactive skills you have give you pluses on the next tick or 2 of the crafting. Slightly faster craft, or better chance to not screw up. That sort of thing. THere are also crafting "buffs" that you can use to make your skils better, but we don't seem to have all of those either. Certain skills, like heavy and medium armor, don't have any crafting buffs at all and you're at the whim of the RNG there.
Total personal opinion? I like it, and I'll probably end up wasting more of my life on another MMORPG. I even quit everquest and I'll probably end up back on this.
Professional opinion? They're going to release this unfinished so they can make their 2004 release date and so they can match World of Warcraft. I can understand that, but I think they should hold off until all the skills can be tested, since we're missing a good deal still.
Watch your inboxes, another round of invites is supposedly going to be sent out soon.

And none of that made me want it less... Any idea when I can possibly access it? I'm not signed up as a tester yet. Should I? Is there any point to do it now?
Also, do you know anything about paying options? I don't use credit cards for anything. Alternatives?

Most likely there will be game cards, same as EQ1 had.
I don't think you can sign up as a tester now, unfortunately.
I will watch to see if I get an extra key. If I do, it's yours.
