Computer Tech Question

Pretty sure my mobo is fried, going to replace the PSU first. If its not the PSU I've been looking to build a new system, but I'm a little out of the loop. The mobo (an MSI AM2/AM2+) I have been looking at says that is supports 800 and 1066 speed RAM depending on the CPU. So my question is "If I get a socket AM2 CPU can I still use 1066 RAM knowing that it will only run at 800?" I ask becuase I don't want to have to buy 800 speed RAM now and in a year or so when I upgrade the CPU buy more RAM at 1066. Thanks.

Thanks for answering my question, turns out it was just the power supply. Boots up fine now.
