I have one and I love it! Whisper net is amazing. I've had trouble getting Amazon's free service to transcribe large docs into kindle, but those were full books, which they want you to buy, not transcribe. lol. overall, i love it. my screen died after about 6 months and i havn't yet fixed it, but i think that was my fault via abuse, not a flaw in the kindle.

I suggest visiting http://www.mobileread.com.
They have information about all the different ebook readers out there (kindle, sony PRS, Cybook etc), and there's lots of people willing to talk about them on the forums...

I myself have a Sony PRS-505. I'm so glad I got it, one of the best purchases I ever made. It's what enabled me to comfortably read all of Fel's work without destroying my eyes squinting at a PC monitor/phone/PDA :D

I'm from New Zealand, so the Kindle wasn't really suitable for me, as the Whisper Net thing only functions in the good 'ol US of A..
