The other day, whilst rereading 'Subjugation - whilst waiting for yet another chapter of spirit walker.I got to wondering,Whilst it true that in his relationship with jyslin , he has to bend a lot to fit into the Faey world, nevertheless we kinda never discuss , what Jyslin has to give up , if anything by marrying a human.
Just to get the ball rolling, for one,she has to constantly buck the social norm , where instead of the male , being subservant to his wife , Jason's treats her as a equal . Whats more as head of the House, her whole claim to fame,is only through him.I have the funny feeling , due to who he is, he might be a more gifted Engineer as well. So on a lot of areas , Jyslin has to be pretty tolerant, just to be able to able to think to make it work.
any ideas?
Plus as a side note,A set of religious beliefs helps define who we are.So, if your not raising your kids with your set of values , then how do you expect them to emulate your ways. The danger is,that the kids are going to grow up ignorant of both cultures, and not end up empathy for either.Whilst for faey , it might not be a problem , for a member of a religion , even a a lapsed member ,such as Jason thats got to hurt at least a little bit.
who has to bend more to whom?
