I wanted only to say, that although I think that [almost] everyone should apply updates to the programs they use, most importantly security patches/upates to remotely exploitable bugs (if their machine is remotely exploitable), I don't think that availability of source code means lower security. Example: Linux, FreeBSD vs. MS Windows; Mozilla vs. Internet Explorer; Apache vs. IIS --- one canot say about the last pair that it is open source unpopular vs. majority market proprietary.

The LOL was meant to show I was just being an ass. Something I'm quite good at actually. (I don't think that's a good thing though.) Don't mind me, I'm not quite here today.shadowhawk wrote: You Point Being?

Re: WARNING: This is for those with Win XP
The short answer is that some people actually make money from viruses. They set up your computer to act as a zombie machine that relays their viruses and spam to other people, without any chance of getting caught. People used to do it for kicks, but nowadays it seems like they mostly do it so they don't get caught in the middle of something illegal.
Viruses nowadays rarely completely cripple the computer. It's more valuable to the idiots that write them if the machine is availible for other uses.

Swedish dosm't translate well to English at all, i think. We have too many words and constructs that simply can't be translated while keeping it pure. I'm not sure there is a word that covers skadegldje either... At least i can't remeber it right now.negativecow wrote:hmm dosent translet well "den sanna gldjen r skade gldje"
