Don't apologize for being what you are...
I was apologizing for being what I am. Just apologizing for exposing everyone to the geekiness. But since we are on a SciFi/Fantasy story author's forum site then I guess we are all a bit geeky. I fully embrace my geek factor. It is what I do for a living and for fun. My wife says that eventually the geeks will rule the world but just let the "popular" folks think they are.

And here I was thinking geek and popular are the same. Geeks who rule is popular. But the issue for me is whether they want to show the world they are geek or otherwise.

Now for another matter, I do not really know the true definition of geek.

But whenever I pose this question:

Is the universe a big round thing?

The Geek will pause for a while and say "Yeah, an ever expanding round universe"

The non-geek will give you an irritated stare and says "Whatever, the universe is the world I live in."

Figure that.

Then you get a REAL geek that will say, "Which universe are we discussing?"

I always have felt that a spherically shaped universe to be wrong and that a spinning torroid shape would be uniquely better. Or even a klein bottle shape. Or something like a mobius strip but with everything contained within a multi dimensional space so that one side loops back to itself on the otherside. I guess that's a bit hard to picture but it works for me.

I've always thought of the universe we reside in being both infinite and finite. Indefinite in shape, infinitely large, but having a defined edge.

If the universe is infinite, then by definition, it must contain alternative versions of me  (Infinity implies that if it is possible then it exists somewhere, as long as it does not counter the laws of physics - which in turn may vary over an infinite area)

I can get into enough trouble on my own.

For this reason, I suspect a finite, but very large universe.

Anything that's possible, taken on a large enough scale, has already happened. That being said, two of you WOULD cause the universe to explode. Then we wouldn't have any universe at all...

Spec was moving the VM image from one drive to another. Hopefully this drive has more disk space...

Oh that is always my worst nightmare. Make sure that the Hosting company isn't keeping snapshots longer than 24 hrs. The delta file aspect on the VM hypervisors out there don't like long running snapshots. The files grow exponentially. I'd also ask them if you are in a shared datastore for your VM/VMs versus a Datastore of your own.

J-Man5

P.S. Sorry for geeking out on everyone there.

P.P.S. Sorry about the crash too.
No snapshots, I'm running the VM myself.

Moved it to another drive which was the result of the extra downtime a day or two ago.
Fiferguy wrote:Spec was moving the VM image from one drive to another. Hopefully this drive has more disk space...
120GB vs 20GB... but a slower drive. 7.2k RPM vs 10k RPM

...

Was away on hols / visiting friends when it ran out of space on the original drive (again) which forced me to do the move then. On a new laptop which wasn't set up with my password database, which meant I couldn't log in and reply immediately. (The password is a complex/random generated one)

thanks for the info.

windows sure is heavy on space it takes on a hard drive
basic linux install + apache + mysql is at max 2.5 GB

It's hardly a basic install of Windows. Most of it isn't Sennadar-related.

ah. but if you using emulation why not put senandar(and all other websites) on one of its own ? so if there a breach there it wont effect the rest of the systems

I consider myself a bit of a techno geek... able to set-up, insall a computer from a box without the manuals and know which holes to plug with the jack......

But this geek find some of the things you guys talk almost greek.

It makes me wonder how a greek geek ever talks to an italian hotshot jock.
