Who would you pick?

Post by afrigeek »

If you were to choose one of Tarrin's women, who would choose to be your mate?

Mist?
Kimmie?
Jesmind?

I vote for Mist.

What actually happened was that George Dubya Bush saw an Iraqi maths teacher carrying a geometry set, accused him of being a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement, and charged him with possessing weapons of maths instruction.

Ah, but see, either way you slice it, you'd be Were then too... so you'd be big and strong and tough and most likely crazy then too.. ;)

I picked Mist. But could have easily gone with Kimmie. Jesmind is just to much of a biatch to like.

Can't we choose all three? They are each so complementary to each other.

Once you get tired of Jesmind being a beeyoch, a visit to Mist or Kimmie would be nice. I would hate to be deferred to all of the time so once you got tired of that and left Mist or Kimmie, a trip to Jesmind would solve that little ego problem pretty quick.

And I don't think either Mist or Jesmind would be worth a bag of rocks when it came to an intellectual persuit...so you wouldn't want to loose Kimmie either.

I'm too much of a stereotypical guy to be able to choose...

Ha ha.... can I be selfish and do all 3!! But preference wise would be for Mist for her selfless love and protectiveness. Hey you would want to be molly coddled at times.

Mist for sure! As previously stated the bipolar Jesmind is too much a trial for a continuous / solo mate. Perhaps uneducated formally, she is definitely no mental midget. Kimmie as an accomplished wizard could be a very stimulating conversationalist, but far too manipulative for a solo adventure (grin). Mist is very upfront, supportive, and willing to step back as needed. To me she would be the penultimate returning mate. Loyal in all things, and probably much more native intelligence than has been currently displayed.
But in all fairness, the trio as demonstrated by Fel, is the most stable of the possible relationships. They each bring to Tarrin a needed contrast and a soothing counterpoint. The were culture prior to Tarrin, had no previously permanent pairings (except for the recurring Triana), so a single mate doesn't seem plausible. The matriarchal society seems to work for the weres, so why mess with it

LOL... I would contend that unless we were the dominant, the 5 of us that voted for Mist would be suicidal too...

To be honest, were I a were cat and Jesmind my mate, I would have killed her already.
Just too stressful trying to have a relationship with her. I wonder whether that was the way Triana was when she was younger...In my local language we have a proverb:
"Ekitezaala tekyaala" literally meaning "That which does not reproduce its own kind, does not multiply"

One would then think that its obvious who Jasana's parent's are by just observing her behaviour so perhaps Jesmind's behaviour is a reflection on Triana when she didn't have centuries of experience. By the way who was Jesmind's father? Thean does not seem to be old enough to have been the one.

Noah.
In chapter 8 of Weavespinner, after Tarrin finds out that Jasana was the one to turn him and after Triana managed to break his rage, Fel says:
It surprised him to find out that his solid-minded mother was a wild gambler in her younger days. Some of the things she'd tried made him look like a timid housewife. And though she was much more cautious now than she had been, she still regularly risked death to explore the boundaries of her ability. He also knew where Jesmind got her fiery nature from. In her younger days, Triana was even wilder and more tempermental than her daughter. Some traits breed true, and Jesmind was proof of that. She'd inherited her mother's looks and her mother's temper. After a thousand years, Jesmind may be as mellow as her mother. For a temper that hot, it took a thousand years to cool it down.
So yeah, it's an inherited thing... ;)
