What, you mean it isn't?

High School physics was at least.

Well, it isn't hard if you have a semi-logical mind. But people that have problems with logic will have problems with physics and math.

Don't worry. Most people can barely graduate with a minor in High School English, so you're in good company.

I'm sure if you called any serious physicist a "mathmeticiain with just a bit of science stuff added in" - they'd get all offended with you.

For example, you could easily say that Musicians are really just natural mathmaticians with bunch of specialised statistical knowledge and extra symbols.

Almost anything can be explained/defined by the application of math on a large enough data set.

So, yes, there are strong links between Physics and Mathmatics, but calling it "just a bunch of math with science monikers attached to it" isn't doing justice to the entire field of phsysics.

Like I said, that's all my high school physics class was. Not saying it's not a higher science outside of the high school area, it was more of a slur against my HS.

Then again, it is hard to do higher order physics on stone tablets... it makes erasing a pain...

Yes, but I wasn't using just that as the basis... I understand that it's TV, and thus hyped to the n-th degree, and glosses over all the realities of solving the hypothetical situations they give.

I don't remember it all, but there's a whole crapload of various math formula out there which can be used to describe the various seemingly random processes that occur in nature.

Plus physics is used in all sorts of real-world things: everythign from Bridge Building to weather prediction and a bunch of other stuff...

Yeah, it's math at its core, but it's also the process of adapting what we can observe and measure into a formula.

Thing is the only physics I have supposedly had was an Integrated Physics and Chemistry class taught by the chemistry teacher ( was a pre-requisite) I then went on to Chemistry 1, 2, and 3. I don't think we actually ever did any physics in that class anyway. Only reason I am taking this class is my chemistry class got killed....so I got stuck with this....and am really thinking of dropping the class.

'Oh, and miss out on all those fun and interesting Formulae?' Says the person studying business and Chinese in a nonsarcasic manner. I actually did physics second last year of high school, wasn't bad but I think I prefer Calculus :D :!:

Anyway Fel, good luck with Japanese. Languages are fun, especially when you get to go to the country, stay for a while and just scrape by with the language you have learned :D . I ended up in China over Christmas and had a blast for 7 weeks and now know how little I know after then 2 years of study! Oh, and if you learn kanji good luck. I have to learn it, but the simplified version, because since the Japanese stole from the Chinese way before the Communists decided to change it. At least you'll be able to read signs in Taiwan and Hong Kong :P . I still think its amazing that Japanese have 3 different alphabets :o . No wonder thier kids don't read the newspaper before they reach their teens :!:

The Language department is trying to create a Japanese major program, and learning Japanese has been a major goal of mine.

To be honest...if they institute a Japanese major program, I may change majors and stay.
I read the book SHOGUN in 1978. It was then that I wanted to learn Japanese. Never did but I still would like to.

This is a good site for common words and meanings that may help if you do take Japanese. http://www.aizu.com/people/brady/japanese.html
