A book Fel could write if he has some time on his hands ....

Post by Blacktiger »

How about this. After the business with The One is concluded Tarrin could, after some rest, be send on a recon mission for Niami to the atypical World of Terra, a universe without magic and without Elder and Younger gods to govern it.

This world ( our own of course  ) as it turns out could have suffered a major " mishap " which killed all gods around the time of the Blood War ( around 5k years ago ).

Since this Universe is not too far away from the core were HE resides, though not as close as Sennadar, Niami could have a desire furthered by HIM ( through the deva ) to once again allow magic to flourish on Terra.
Tarrin could enter this world through a hidden gate somewhere in Japan and in his were-form would be thought of as just another crazy gaijin who does cosplay  .

After many dangerous encounters with our "technomagic" society and intolerant fundamentalist christians in positions of power( remember, he himself cannot use magic aside from his regeneration and shapeshifting ) he could remove the seals blocking all devine power in this Universe and slowly magic and magical races and the gods would make a reappearance.
Imagine the chaos  :D

I would love to read such a story by Fel, but even if he does not write it maybe someone else could write it as a fanfic. Unfortunately i myself am not a good writer who could turn out a well written piece of fiction.....

And it can be argued that Christianity isn't the dominant faith. We have a pretty large Pantheon of Gods in existence (Hindu alone has thousands). I like the idea of 'technomagic' though.

As far as I know the pantheon of the Hindus contains something around 3 million different lesser and bigger entitys.
Now compare that to our own " One " ( also known as Allah or Jahwe ). :P

About 5k years ago the demons also tried to overrun this universe and here they almost succeeded.
As a last act of vanquishing the demonic hordes the few remaining egyptian gods who still had their icons untouched sealed the pathways through which all devine ( and demonlord ) power flows into a universe, killing all demonlords and their summond demontroops in the process and locking themselves out off our universe.
The titanic powers unleashed during that war and interdiction of all devine ( and thus magical ) power the axis of Terra shifted, covering atlantis with ice ( southpole ) and turning most of egypt into the desert land it is now.
Imagine the chaos happening in the museum of history in cairo when one of the statutes of Anubis starts to move because it is his icon! He still has worshippers here, secret cult maybe? .....

Problem with that is, only the Elder creator god or those designated have the ability to change the world on that grand of a scale. If the Elder god(dess) has been defeated, then the demons have already won.

Now, if you want to rearrange that, the Elder God was Allah/Yhwh/whoever and as a last act before their death/destruction completely cut off all mystical power into the world, allowing mundane equipment to work on the demons since it changed the way the whole world worked.

That would work.

You also have to remember that Younger Gods exists because people believe in them, even if it's just one person. So all in all, if you use that methodology, we have a TON of Gods around here.

hey Lochar, how is this:
ALL devine power is sealed off from our world, because the Elder goddess ( who has come to be known as symbol.....ähh, no, wait....yeah Allah, Jaweh or Lord.... man, when the women find out they will rebel everywere... hehe ) blocked access to her universe and now cannot remove the seal on her own and has finally found an ally in Niami to help her gain access to our world again.

You will ask why she did not send one of her avatars to do the deed? She has none, because for this she would need a true believer touched by her devine power for this to work and those are all dead. And her icon is uselessly trapped under the ice of the southpole and she cannot animate it anymore without open pathways between our world and her domain for devine power to travel.

As to what happend to the younger gods... many perished because they could not interact with our world anymore and their flock started to not believe in them anymore after a couple decades and centurys ( priests having no magic ).

Only Anubis and a few others of the Younger gods still exists because of secret societys of worshippers.

New Younger gods can only come into existence when there is a pathway open for the transfer of a devine consciousness to one of the upper planes to form a domain for a Younger god and house that immeasurable power not meant for the mortal planes.
without that the mortal with true believers could never ascent and a forming devine consciousness of a god for whom there was a need to be ( like Tark, the first Younger god of Sennadar ) would just fizzle out....

Too much controversial for me.

And way hard to incorporate main religions and events in main religion even (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism), not including minor religions (Shamanism, Santeria/Vodoun, Confucianism, ...) and historical religions (Mesopotamia/Babylon gods, Egypt gods, Greek/Roman gods, Druids of Celts, Slavic/Germanic/Norse mythology, ...) or other (Wicca (!), Scientology, La Vey Satanism for example). See List of religions article at Wikipedia.

Besides I'd rather God/Allah/Yhwh refer to God of Gods than to severly restricted (in fight with demons) Elder God of non-magical Earth.

Not that Fel needs ideas for new books. "DragonStar" and "Alpha Project" (mhmmm!) just started; 5 other story ideas in old ideas and dodging studying for a test. topic on Other Stories forum.

If we are talking about continuing with Firestaff characters, I'm partially to "Tsukatta: The Interdimensional Traveller" set of short stories, somewhet similar to Drunkard's Walk idea.

Well, Shadowhawk, I certainly did not have the intend to insult your faith. This is fiction after all and not to be taken too seriously.

I myself am an agnostic with atheist tendencies. The following link gives a fairly good description of how I see our universe.

I'm not offended, Blacktiger, nor I think you have insulted my faith. An example: I really like Neal Stephenson novel "Snow Crash", but it has some controversial idea on (Jesus) Resurrection, especially for Roman Catholic.

If we were to get offended by fiction, being evangelical, the whole multiple gods theory would have offended me in most fictious works :-) But I have to admit to being more comfortable with YHWH/Jehovah/Allah being the GoG rather than just a mere elder God of a universe.

Well it was just a suggestion. I thought that Fel or someone else might want to have an aditional idea for a story in the sennadarverse when there is time and nobody is bothering you like chores or cubs bouncing up and down on your tummy, a mate dragging you to bed by the tail for some humping, like skaven trying to sack your cellar, Natasha Kerensky knocking on your door or the I. R. S. declaring you enemy of state number one.
