Forum conversion - done!

Post by Spec8472 »

Hold on to your hats, people.
The forum is moving to a new host, and a new forum software in the next few hours.

The links won't change except for a short period after the conversion, so you don't need to update your favorites.

Almost everything will be transferred across.
Everything will be kept in a few different backups, incase something weird happens.

Your username and password will be exactly the same as it is now.

Unfortunately, there's a few things that won't be transferred. Mostly, this is just private messages - however if you need access to the old private messages, you will still be able to do so.

See you on the other side! :)

Well... we're here!

Still a few bugs to sort out (which some of you may have already seen).

Seamless Redirection
[s]The fancy redirection script I set up, isn't working, I'll track down the problem with that and get it working soon. [/s] Working now

Avatars
Those of you (like me) who had avatars on remote servers have had their avatars copied to this server.
You're free to host an avatar on this server (just hit 'upload' on your profile), as long as it's less than 61KB, and smaller than 80x80 px.
If you no longer want your avatar, hit delete.

The conversion process automaticly resized larger avatars.

Bugs
Report bugs if you find them - Copy/paste the full URL into a message here and give a quick description.

The big ones are pretty easy to spot - page formatting goes wonky.

Old Private Messages
[s]I'll either let people access the old forum to get their messages, or just send them through. That'll happen either during the week, or next weekend.

If it's urgent, email/IM me, I'll get to it asap.[/s] See Below Post

"Displayname" is now your Username
Some people (again, like me) had different Display Names than their username. PHPbb didn't support this by default, however you can change your username if you want. Just edit your profile.

Spec8472: good work!

Lochar: once would be enought.

I hope that admin can unstick threads, when they are no longer needed.

Great job on the conversion. Only bug I've seen is it didn't display that I was Logged in when I went into General Discussion.

tt, and hr html codes should work now.
They're not BBCode (so don't use the [ and ] version of them), but pure html

Other HTML Codes I've got added to the 'allow' list:
<pre> b, i, u, pre, a, hr, tt</pre>

Sorry. I was getting an error and didn't see the post myself.

Spec fixed it for me.

Spec: you're going to need to set up a redirect page off the OLD forum address. the http://www.sennadar.com message link button points to a page that comes back 404.

And email me/catch me on IRC, we need to talk about something. If you read my text off IRC log last night (my time), then you already know what it is.

can't right now, I'm almost late for class (at university atm).

I'll be back home in about 3 hours. If you're still here, we can talk then.
