Tarrin and Druidic "dimensional travel"

Post by Shadowhawk »

In Chapter 14 of "Axe of the Dwarven King":
Tarrin blinked.  There was one spell, he realized, that Triana had not taught him.  The spell she used to travel.

Mother, he called.  You didnt teach me one of the spells you know.

Thats right, I didnt, she agreed.  Thats half of your final test, cub.  By the first bloom, you had better be able to cast that spell.  I will not teach it to you.  You must discover it yourself.

Whats the other half? he asked in consternation.

You will teach me a spell, cub.  You will teach me a spell I do not know.
As you probably remember, the new spell(s) Tarrin has invented was  Druidic version of the Sorcerers (if I remember correctly it needs Weavespinner magic) Teleportation spell, and it was 9 layer spell. Triana and Saphire were delighted about this. (There also was 3-4 layer enhanced version of talk to animals spell, but it does not cross 5 layer boundary set by Triana.)

But I do not remember Tarrin learning the "dimensional travel" spell. Have I missed something, or Fel forgot about this small fact? Triana should not forget about his. Not her. BTW. I wonder if this way of travel (am I correct in assuming that it uses Astral?) can be used to move between planes which allows Druidic magic...

I think I said something about this on the other board.  With this spell, she's stepping out of time and space, but is still on the same plane.  A crazy druid could try to use it to move to another plane, but I'm guessing that would be the top of the word "unnatural" since it would be using the All of one plane to connect to the All of another one.  If you went to a place like Pyrosia, where the All isn't active there, you'd probably end up dying since there wouldn't be an All to place you.
