Update?

Re: Update?
Chapter 5 is theoretically done, but I haven't released it yet because of something in chapter 6. If I have to retcon, I don't want to have to go back and edit a released chapter and confuse people.
It's been slow going regardless. I severely strained the anterior infererior somethingorother ligament in my hip 2 weeks ago, which makes it extremely painful to sit, walk, stand, and anything and everything else. It's hard to write when it hurts to sit at the computer.
The worst part is that it may take another 6 weeks for it to heal, according to the docs. Where it is and the fact I have to walk means that I re-pull the ligament any time I take a wrong step, and that slows down the healing process.

Sorry to hear that, man! No worries on the story; we'll be here if and when you get it done. You just get better!

Ick.
What you need is a battle suit, of course.
With a well-educated AI that knows just how you are supposed to move, and properly adjusts for the terrain...
They never talk about how useful they'd be for physical therapy in the various SF genres that feature them.

Re: Update?
You're right, and don't forget the ability to adjust for weight load, moving when you exert 1/4 the amount of strength normally required for whatever action at first and slowly increasing day by day as the injury heals.
Re: Update?
Sounds like a suit of Crusader armor is exactly what you need... plus with a jack, you won't need to worry about typing either.
Re: Update?
Sorry to hear about your injury. Take the time and get well!
Totally agree with you holding onto chapter 5 till you know how chapter 6 is going to turn out.
Fingers crossed! ☠ Oh! My bad that was crossed bones!

Re: Update?
Oh my, I have spinal stenosis, as well as sciatica and both affect my right leg, so I can sympathize with your pain - in fact I walk with a cane, or use an electric scooter to get around - not only that, but I also have a custom crafted chair that I use when I sit at my desk - otherwise it hurts like #3ll to even sit at my computer, let alone type.Fel wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2019 3:10 pm I severely strained the anterior infererior somethingorother ligament in my hip 2 weeks ago, which makes it extremely painful to sit, walk, stand, and anything and everything else. Here's hoping you recover soon!!!!

Re: Update?
Repetitive motion injuries are horrid to heal. Even after you think it is healed, they come back.

Re: Update?
Well, not therapy exactly, but the Arsenal series features a suit (well, a series of suits) that enable the disabled protagonist to walk (and fly). Though who knows, the way it's going, the suit may soon be able to exist below the skin ...kd7mvs wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2019 8:24 am Ick.

Re: Update?
Don't get me wrong I enjoyed chapter 5 - I just hope Fel has things well enough in hand that he doesn't have to do any retconning and re-release chapter 5!
Not to mention since he released chapter 5, may hap chapter 6 will be along shortly!

Re: Update?
Fel - an update on chapter 7 would be nice... but more specifically an update on your injury. How are you recovering?
Re: Update?
I'm about 90% healed. I can walk again without limping, but I still have some very mild lingering pain in the leg.
And I seem to have an issue with walking down stairs or down a hill, but not UP. I guess it puts extra strain on the ligament for me to lean back and bend my leg that way.
I have a scheduled doctor's appointment tomorrow for them to check my recovery. I'm fairly sure they'll tell me it's almost fully healed and suggest physical therapy, given my right leg is definitely weaker than my left leg now.

Glad to hear you are on road to recovery. I had to laugh as you get older everything goes down hill, you're bucking the trend -:).

I have that issue walking down steps or any time I have to step down, but mostly cause my knees are shot to shit. Walking up,something gives me no issue though.Fel wrote: Tue Aug 27, 2019 11:46 am I'm about 90% healed. I can walk again without limping, but I still have some very mild lingering pain in the leg.
