Hi to all e-books readers!

How do all of you guys read their e-books? Are PDA's good for doing that?
I was wondering because e-paper should provide us with a good and eye-friendly alternative, and reading on the PC/laptop goes kinda well, but is far from cozy, and I am not ready to take my laptop into my bed.
How far has it already evolved and are there already products on the market?

I use Isilo for my reading on my PDA.  I make use of it extensively for work and it is cross platform too. The reader is free to try out for 30 days and the full version is about 20 bucks.  Try http://www.isilo.com and http://www.isilox.com IsiloX is the file creation portion and has command line, gui, and an IE plugin to help create the files.

The whole reason (well 95%) I bought my PDA was for reading.  Now everywhere i go i've got something fun to do.

I use Plucker (http://www.plkr.org/) or Weasel (http//www.sourceforge.net/projects/gutenpalm) for ebook reading, mostly cause between the two of them, they can deal with large conversions of text files to an e-reader compatible format.

And they're both free

Also, Plucker's interface, Sunrise (http://laurens.typepad.com/sunrise/) can trawl websites and download linkable documents for later perusal on your palm.

ah, people, thanks for the replies
however, i think i asked my question the wrong way.
i was actually wondering about the hardware you use. say pda (which kind), pocket pc, e-paper thingie, stone slabs...

there's this cool thing called sony librie which has actually implemented e-paper, meaning it's no lcd, has no lighting, and looks like paper. downside: sells only(!) in japan, importers charge 500$  :'(
another one would be the "ebookwise", which is cheaper, but with lcd and only comes with a subscription to the seller's e-book-merch.

so, i wanna know what device you use and if it is pleasant/feasible/(im)practicable or if it outright kills your eyes

Do the programs/readers mentioned above handle large files well?  I have condensed most of the stories that I have read from the multiple html chapters into a single MSWords .DOC file, for each story.  Many of them have wound up larger than one megabyte because of the story size and the chapter navigation links/bookmarks that I have placed in the .doc files.  The largest that I have currently is Nick Scipios Summer Camp Book 2 at 3.7Mb and that is before I started adding the navigation links.   :-/

I would love to be able to reread thes stories on a pda.  I used to have a CASIO BE-300 8Mb pda.  It had a program that could handle large files really well.  Alas, my pda has gone the way of the dodo(extinct).

As for Honor.  I finished Honor of the Queen at 2am this morning.

I know for certain Weasel deals with them well. If you can convince Jpluck or Sunrise to deal with the files (usually issues with too long a paragraph/sentence) it does well. I've got files of up to 12M worth of compressed text/images on my palm

I've got several files that are  over 40 MB in size in iSilo.  I have a 7 MB of all of Fel's works.  A 147 MB CD encyclopedia/dictionary, a 40 MB of Clan of the Cats Web comic with full graphics.  

I use my Dell Axim x50v to read quite often.  I am currently re-reading all of the Tarrin Kael chronicles.  I read both in portrait and landscape modes as the mood strikes me.  I like my Dell Axim in that the x50v has VGA qualit screen and can watch DVD ripped movies on it using Beta Player and it has two slots for expansion a Compact Flash slot and a SD slot.  I have both in use one with movies and music and the other with work data and programs.

The Axim is well worth the money spent on it.

  Due to eyesite, I read ebooks on the PC in larger fonts.   Paper resolution is SO much better than the best screens available and eyestrain is greatly recuced.  For reading in bed and elsewhere, I reformatted and printed a few of Tarrin's tales into 14 point with two columns on 8-1/2x11 paper.  

  Fel, are you reading this?  I haven't heard back about the email I sent you about using (POD) Publish on demand for the Firestaff tales.

Well lack of a PDA or anything like that puts me firmly in the reading on PC, curling up on my nice uncomfortable computer chair, sigh. As for the programs I use, basically whatever it comes in.
