Odds and ends (NOT a new chapter)

Post by Fel »

Just as a bit of general catch-all:

1:  Site upgrades on hold.  I've been unable to get in touch with Apex, the guy that runs the host of sennadar.com.  My shell pass doesn't work, and attempts to reach him to find out what goes on have thus far been unsuccessful, all mail is bouncing back.  I've sent an email to Rebawho, who, after the shock of hearing from me, will hopefully do me a favor and see if she can get in touch with him.

2:  Book 2.  I've more or less suspended most of my other inane and time-wasting activities to focus on finishing book 2.  I hope to have the last chapters done with more haste than what you're used to.  That doesn't mean that you should expect it tomorrow, because my concept of "writing" involves a hell of a lot of goofing off, even when I'm serious about it.  It's going to be worse than usual, because writing the ending of a book usually is rather tricky, and I'm spending as much time writing as I am working on the framework of the next book...and that's when I'm actuallly working and not playing games or watching TV.

3:  Shaq.  You know who you are.  PM ME NOW, WOMAN.

4:  Other projects.  After I finish book 7, I probably will do a few chapters of another storyline as a break from Tarrin & co.  Which I do and how far I go, I can't really say.  It'll be whatever mood I'm in.

5:  Publishing.  Still no, but I'll admit, I've been giving the idea of it more serious thought lately.

So, now we're all up to speed.  Hope this helps.
Just another guy from the shallow end of the gene pool.

Ah, that does help. Hope it all works out with the site.

Why don't you just forward your url here?
I'm guessing that's because Fel would need access to his host to do so. Fel doesn't own or operate the domain himself.

If Fel would like, I'm sure there'd be a few will peoples who would be willing to pass on some dollars to support hosting for sennadar.com, where Fel could run amock.

With the new web host idea in mind.....

http://www.thehostingchart.com
It is basicly a site that reviews the top web hosting companys.  The top one at the moment has a basic plan for about $5 a month (paid annually so $60).  Pay for 2 years, they wave the $20 setup fee.
Hmm, I don't know if they take care of the domain name or not.  For that I've heard http://www.dot.net  is suppose to be good.  I don't keep up on such things, I'm still running on a free webhost (a freehomepages.com/name type thing), and I update it like every 5 years.  :P

Just thought I would pass it along.  Have a happy new year.

Okay. I hate to do this, but...

Unfortunately, your chances of getting a major publisher to pick up the Firestaff series simply don't exist. By posting the books on the web, you used the First Publication Rights, which are what publishers are interested in.

You _do_ have the option of POD or electronic publishing, but as for getting someone like Tor to pick them up, well...

This board can dissapear.  We never knew that there was a series of books called the Firestaff.  Really.  Nothing to see here people, move along.

Someone delete this post of Shalon's  just so that Fel keeps posting chapters.  Sorry Shalon.  I hope Fel becomes a published author someday. But I'd rather read his books and chapters more often than a published novel/series.

I think its an honest comment - I don't see any reason to delete the post.

I don't know the foggiest about publishing, but Shalon's comments do make sense to me.

I hope Fel does end up publishing his books. To be honest, I believe it will probably end up being a 'self published' deal, at least for the currently written books.

If Fel were to consider publishing the firestaff series in bound volumes of some sort, I'd be willing to pay up in advance.

Ditto, and I'm sure a lot of people besides myself would also be willing to go through after he's fixed the stuff on the error list to make sure there aren't any of the small typos that would be more distracting to read in print.
