What? Not Published?!
What? Not Published?!
Fel, I've got to tell you, you are an excellent author. I havent been as captivated by a series of books since I cant remember when. Man, you are sitting on some signigicant work here! Why haven't you published? I'd love to see some cover art with all your characters! Your stories are captivating and entertaining. You are in a class with Robert Jordan, RA Salvatore, and Mercedes Lackey. I have a friend who is an author, and got a scifi book published after putting it online. Would you like me to ask him for you how that happened? If you like, I can investigate a little for you. Either way, Keep up the GREAT work.
Re: What? Not Published?!
While I've at times enjoyed Salvatore's Drizzt books, I actually like Fel's stories and characters more.
Many authors are beginning to offer their work both for free as a download, and in book form. And I recall one author saying on his web site that the free downloads actually drove book sales. So, publishing ... definitely a good idea.

IIRC Baen Free Library only contains books that were published on paper.shadowhawk wrote: see "Introducing the Baen Free Library" by Eric Flint

Self-publishing might be a way for now:

But beware:

Print-On-Demand seems to be a relatively inexpensive way to get printed copies to readers.
While I believe that Fel's books would be worth publishing, there are just a few things missing:
A Cover, maybe some editing (e.g. the three names of Sarrayas husband), a nice layout, ...
Let's give Fel some time to finish the books and then let him think about a suitable way (for him) to get them published. I'me sure he'll ask if he needs help with that.
BTW: Does anyone know what occupies Fel's mind at the moment? Writing? School?

I pointed out Bean Books Intro only because that is example of saying "that the free downloads actually drove book sales".harrys wrote:IIRC Baen Free Library only contains books that were published on paper.

lol, a combination of writing, school, and fun.harrys wrote: BTW: Does anyone know what occupies Fel's mind at the moment? Writing? School?
Had a Psychology test on Monday, but I probably bombed it because I had a stomach virus the night before, got no sleep at all, and took the test sick. I'll find out my score tomorrow.
I've been doing a lot of re-reading of past books and chapters getting ready for the end of Sword of Fire. Wanna make sure everything lines up correctly.
I've also been writing. The battle itself has been done, but I wanted to finish that reading before I moved forward. I'm generally done with that now though, so I forsee movement along those lines soon.
I've also been playing a little more EQ than usual lately. Binter (my EQ character) is now EP flagged, is one raid away from his Vex Thal Key, and just dinged level 70 2 days ago.
I might lay off of the EQ for a while, maybe just log on for raids for a week or two. I tried to play today after I finished reading, but I found I had no desire to be there, was just logging on because I was bored of reading, but I logged on and was bored before the splash screen even came up. After doing all that work and grinding for hours to get level 70, I find myself suffering from a little burnout. The idea of getting a group and killing an endless series of monsters just didn't appeal to me for some reason, hehehe.
But, as to the subject of this thread:
I never really intend to publish. It doesn't really interest me at all. I don't write for money, I write because I like to write. Besides, I'm not sure I'd want to go through the incredible hassle that would entail trying to publish. That would make writing seem much less like fun and much more like work...and I don't do this for work. :)
Just another guy from the shallow end of the gene pool.

So t_o_m_id, are you going to be Fel agent (in acting)?

Im no agent, more's the pity! Fel, I can respect that reasoning. God forbid anything should interfere with your enjoyment of writing. It comes through clearly in your work that you love it. IMHO that's what makes the books so fun to read, because the reader can tell that you had so much fun writing them. Thank you so much for posting them! You have quite a few fans, myself included. :) If you ever do change your mind, let me know please.. I'd still kill to see cover art with some of your characters.. Thanks so much and keep up the fantastic work.
