I've never had any problem with Firefox in any of its versions since I first installed it as version 2, but I do find that the number of tabs I have open does depend on the working memory of the computer. If the CPU doesn't have enough memory, Firefox takes its time. Which means on the 'skinny mini' setup I'm using at the moment if I have more that five or six tabs open, Firefox slowwwwwwwws right down and occasionally hesitates.
(My 'skinny mini' runs a 'rescued' 4+yr old CPU from my 'scrap box' and I'm using it while I build a total new setup.)
