Upload avatar?

Post by Mizriath »

Anyone, how do you upload the pic when it is set to 60kb. I was stuck cost the pic I had was 640kb jpg file.

Ok I am not comp savvy. I was thinking that either I find a way to miniaturise the pic or I enlarge the max upload size. How do I do either?

Ugh... it is a pic i am trying to create for Fel, a picture of a phoenix rising in the sunrise .... where Camara's baby was just born and Tarrin fly them up to see the sunrise.
The sea flows as long as Earth exist, Love is alive as long as people exist. I will read Fel's stories as long as my heart still beats.

Hey,

For avatars - yes, the file needs to be under 60KB (see below) - for general attachments to a post, however - anything up to 5MB should be accepted.

Just to test it - I've attached a 888KB image to this post - (the full-size view is that large anyway, not the thumbnail)

To Resize an image:

If you're using windows, you can use something like MS Paint (built into Windows) if you need to - just open the file in Paint, then click Image and reduce the horizontal and vertical to 50% or so.

Make sure you click File and Save As, and enter another name, so you don't lose your original image. The image quality isn't going to be great from Paint though.

So, Paint.NET (no relation to MS Paint) is free software and will let you resize much the same, but have better control over the quality. http://www.getpaint.net It's a bit of a large download though.

If you're using a Mac - then err, I'm sure iPhoto or something like that will let you resize an image.

Well the easy way to resize a pic with a freeware app would be to install IfranView. and load the image. Then hit ctrl+R to bring up the resize option or hit it from the menu's, Image/Resize/Resample... Then reduce the size the pixel height x width you want, click ok. Then in the File menu click save as and put in a new filename.

As an alternative to Paint.net (if you don't want to install .Net 2.0), you can grab GIMP which is also freeware and available for Unix, Windows and MacOSX.

Thanks all.

I was trying to install the paint net and already encountered lots of problems. I guess I will just use the simple MSpaint.
