update and warning ;)

Post by Fel »

I haven't started bane yet, because I've been enjoying my post-Subjugation vacation, but I'm gonna start soon.

Soon being after the ice storm that's coming. I fully expect to lose power, maybe for a few days, just like the last time. So I might be MIA for up to a week.

Just so you know. ;)

...now, where to find a generator and 10,000 litres of Diesel.

I know a guy who hooked up a car battery to his UPS. He said it would last about 24 hours with it.

Go get a Cigarette lighter Plug in Inverter and 2 100 foot extension cords

then you can keep your car running and warm and Power your Pc at the same time.

Or, you can get a Prius, and using some nifty other cool stuff - hook it up to power your UPS :) It won't flatten either, 'cause the motor will auto-start to charge the battery.

(Yeah, people have done it - rather pricey generator though)

Well thats your problem... Fel lives in the US... we don't sell diesel by the litre, we sell it by the gallon.

but seriously, come back when you can fel, we miss your stories! oh, and we will miss you also

Fel, Is it done yet? Probably not, but I don't have anything better to do! Is it done yet? Probably not, but I don't have anything better to do! Ahhh, its done... dang, now what am I going to read???
New books! Yay! let the nagging begin! Is it done yet? Probably not, but I don't have anything better to do! Is it done yet? Probably not, but I don't have anything better to do!...

True, I really have nothing better to do in my free time, I mean, what could be better than reading Fel's stories or being messed with by Spec? Thanks for the fun spec!

Psft... adopt the metric system already.

Non-metric systems suck.

If you really want a continually UP power supply, then you want a natural gas powered generator. Diesel runs [s]our[/s] out while natural gas is almost always on. Or if you'd like it quiet for Fel to write then you could always install a natural gas fuel cell system. Those have very few if any moving parts. Plus they are better for the environment. And Fel could always sell the spare electricity back to his power company.

Yeah, yeah, yeah - that's why gas costs less per gallon (in the US) than it does per liter (in the UK). It's that metric overhead fee. Costs more to make the conversion. This is why I buy all my gas by the hogshead.

Fel, enjoy your vacation. As much as I REALLY want to read the new Bane chapter, I also know how much writing sucks the moment it becomes a job. I can be patient...at least until summer. Cheers.

How 'bout we chip in and get Fel an inexpensive 12" laptop that can run off the cigarette lighter? My Averatec, after getting the appropriate iGo Juice power adapter, can plug into a wall AC or car's DC plugs. Better yet, anyone have an older small laptop that he can use while in this condition?

that's not true lochar, older laptops can be small, they're just heavyer and thicker than newer laptops...
case in point: my laptop is smaller, and heavyer than my friend's newer laptop, (his has a bigger screen) plus it's slower and less able, but it can surf the web just fine, and if I was capable of writing it'd have no problem doing that... but it gets me here and to porn sites, so I'm good...
