If it's a cooling problem, try using a vacuum cleaner on the vents, while covering some (not all) of the others with your hands. I did that on my son's laptop, and it helped immensely.

Condolences because losing a parent sucks and creates a void that never really gets filled.
Congratulations because it went fast. Both my parents, as well as a grandmother, died from cancer that had metastasized in their brains. That really hurt ...
